Symphonic Distribution has announced the hire of former Beatport Senior Label Manager, Peter Wohelski, as their new Content Development Specialist.
CEO of Symphonic Distribution, Jorge Brea, said: “I am excited to have Peter Wohelski as a part of the Symphonic Distribution team. With a recent fundraise and one of our strongest years to date, Symphonic is poised to be repositioned as one of the world’s leading music distribution services. Adding Peter will help us redefine our product and service offerings as well as ensure that our current and future record label and artist clients have an experienced industry leader to lean on for their development.”
With more than 25 years in the electronic dance music space, Peter Wohelski’s extensive experience proves he’s a pioneer and an innovator. From humble beginnings as a radio, club and underground party DJ and founder of the influential early 90’s central Florida ravezine Trip Magazeen to career-defining highlights including as Director of A&R at US electronica powerhouse label Astralwerks, General Manager for Detroit Techno legend Carl Craig’s seminal Planet E Communications imprint, and longtime Account Manager at Beatport, Peter has witnessed first-hand the ups and downs of electronic dance music culture in America.
Much of Peter’s time has been spent running labels big and small, overseeing the execution of marketing and promotion strategies for major artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Tiesto, as well as influencing the direction of such independent label success stories Dirtybird, Off Recordings and Kinetika Records while at Beatport. With his past Account Management career at Beatport as well as US-based A&R for esteemed German distribution, house finetunes, Peter’s deep level of experience lends a unique wide-angle view and perspective on how to succeed in today’s oversaturated and challenging music marketplace.
“Having worked closely with Jorge Brea and Symphonic at during my time at Beatport, I’ve always admired the company’s continual ability to evolve and successfully compete as an agile player in today’s independent music distribution marketplace. I’m delighted to now be a central part of the Symphonic team as the company looks to further evolve and reposition itself into an even more robust music media distribution and solutions service for independent artists and record labels,” said Wohelski.
