Snapchat already has a wide array of capabilities, but the social media giant has now added ticket sales to its résumé.
The popular multimedia messaging app has teamed up with ticket marketplace and aggregator SeatGeek for an exciting new integration. This newly announced partnership will allow users to purchase game and concert tickets from teams and musicians directly in the app. SeatGeek has revealed that this is the first ticket-buying experience built into the Snapchat app.
The first organization to take advantage of this new partnership was the Los Angeles Football Club. The team used a Snapchat story to promote a recent game through their Snapchat account, and also shared a Snapcode on their website to advertise the match.
How It Works
Users who are interested in buying tickets will be able to go on a team or artist’s channel and swipe up. There, they will be able to find the best seats available and purchase them directly in Snapchat.
“We’re always looking to reach our fans in innovative ways, and selling tickets directly to our followers on Snapchat gives us an incredible opportunity to connect with our most dedicated supporters.” – Los Angeles Football Club President and co-owner Tom Penn
It seems that there are additional plans in the works as well. “What we’re excited about over the next few months is beating the drumbeat of openness with new partnerships,” stated SeatGeek co-founder Russ D’Souza. “We want to drive the whole industry forward and create more tangible results that cause the industry to open up.”
The feature can be expected to roll out shortly.
