Djshop and Djtunes Announce Digital Shutdown

German online dance music retail store DJshop/Djtunes has been in business for more than 20 years. Now, the entity has announced that it will be shutting down the digital download section of both websites.

“As sales from digital downloads have been declining for a while and the big part of music consumption is obviously shifting towards streaming, we decided to shut down the digital download section of djshop.de/djtunes within the next 48 hours,” the company said.
However, they state that djshop will continue to exist as an online store for vinyl records and will be fully revised and updated.

What does this mean for you?

Digital deliveries to Djshop and Djtunes will be terminated. However, you will still be able to utilize both companies for purchasing vinyl records and musical equipment.
It won’t be surprising to see other stores make similar decisions in the future, as streaming is quickly beginning the standard for music intake.
