For this week’s Spotlight, we’re showing love to hip hop artist EB Rebel!
About EB Rebel //
After graduating from college with a Bachelors of Science degree in Legal Studies, EB Rebel became inspired to start making music. Although Rebel had aspirations of a musical career since she was 10 years old, she chose a more practical profession; to become a lawyer. Thanks to the plummeting economy, and her burning desire to create, EB Rebel decide to skip law school and to become a hip hop artist. While applying to 15 jobs a day, she began to find her voice as both a producer, and an emcee. After submitting her music to the Raw Dallas showcase committee, and getting a response almost instantly, EB was convinced that this was her true calling.
In only a few years, Rebel has accumulated great accomplishments. In 2016, she released her EP “TRANCE” with a lead single and video “Don’t Care”. The single received mounds of favorable press/opportunities in music and film. EB landed on Dallas/Fort Worth’s Central Track’s buzz rankings and mentions, and was featured in the popular national publication Afropunk. “Don’t Care” was also featured on the soundtrack for “Stay Woke” a BET documentary, alongside hip hop greats J.Cole and Kendrick Lamar. The documentary was directed by Laurens Grant and produced by Jesse Williams. Rebel released her latest EP “Mama, I’m Ok” in May 2018.
