One of the most exciting aspects of South by Southwest is discovering new acts and enjoying powerful sets from some of electronic music’s most promising and established artists. This year, SXSW has a ton of electronic acts to choose from, so we’ve compiled a list of the 10 names we think you should definitely check out.
Here is a list of our top 10 electronic music acts to see at SXSW 2019:
1. American Grime
American Grime is a collective that represents the undeniable rise of grime in the United States. The group is made up of 2 MCs (Argyle Bixby and MC Jumanji) and 2 DJs (Timbo Slice and Michael Savant) and has planted anchors in Boston, Miami, NYC and California. Influenced by the UK bass scene, this high energy collective will make their return to SXSW for a performance at Barcelona on March 13th. Expect a lot of energy, live MCs and a whole lot of grime.

2. Balún
Brooklynn based electronic indie band Balún self identify as transnational. Though currently residing in New York City, Island culture remains the cornerstone of their forward-thinking sound. Balún incorporates Caribbean rhythms, old school dembow, glitchy IDM and dreamy dance pop into tunes that are slick and modern but firmly rooted in the traditional sounds of their homeland.

3. HÆLOS
You definitely don’t want to miss this U.K. trio, with a love of ’90s trip-hop and seductive, hypnotizing soundscapes that they’ve dubbed “dark euphoria”, HÆLOS floods the senses with atmospheric texture and expansive soundscapes.

4. ReauBeau
Through initially messing around with punk rock, hip hop and dubstep, his most recent outings received recognition by established brands and labels like Tomorrowland, Trap City, Spinnin’ Records and MA Music. ReauBeau’s music can be described as an emotionally rich multi-genre imagining of future bass and trap, coupled with influences still true to his roots.

5. Mansionair
Mansionair is an Australian indie electronic trio formed in 2014. Signed with Glassnote Records, Mansionair has released several singles including “Easier”, “Astronaut – Something About Your Love”, and “Violet City”, which landed on the Billboard Rock Airplay charts. In 2017, their collab with Odesza and WYNNE, “Line of Sight” charted on the US Alternative Songs and Dance/Electronic Songs charts. If the artists he’s worked with don’t give you a sense of the dope vibes they have to offer, catch them at SXSW in March to see for yourself what all the buzz is about.
6. Bad Decisions
Australian made producer/DJs Cameron Breen and Andrew Ghisoni have quickly established themselves on the international stage and headlining their own home country tour in Australia. They are known for their high energy performances and ability to entertain, whether it’s an intimate club show or a MainStage festival performance. Bad Decisions will leave you with heavy wubs and a hip-hop heavy aftertaste to remember.
7. R3HAB
R3HAB, a globetrotting Dutch-Moroccan talent hailed by the likes of Forbes and Billboard Magazine as the future of his craft, Fadil El Ghoul has taken full control of his sound and presence over the last 7 years, garnering hundreds of millions of streams across the board whilst continuing to hold a staggering presence on the global club circuit, all without a formal record label to lean on. His iconic tunes will keep you dancing all night long with beats similar to other artists in this genre like Tiesto, KSHMR and Afrojack. Get ready to rave at his SXSW set!
8. Blood Cultures
Blood Cultures is probably one of the most enigmatic, intriguing, and all around highly elusive contemporary pop musicians. Enjoy floaty, electric vibes and sway along to songs like Phospholipid, Dunk on Me and Indian Summer to find yourself being taken to another world through their unique pop reminiscent sounds that’re perfectly mixed with heavy bass to give you an experience like no other.

9. Catnapp
Catnapp (Amparo Battaglia Lopez) combines R&B, rap, breakbeat, pop, drum and bass and other genres resulting in an intense and nostalgic atmosphere with heavy beats. Experience more fire from uprising maverick producer Catnapp. She’s following up her stunning Monkeytown debut EP with two tracks that further exhibit her vibrant, genre defying brand of beat-making-meets-songwriting. It is Catnapp’s iconic way to inject personality into these fractured grooves that leave no doubt that this artist is going to shape the future of the genre.

10. Hazey Eyes
Hazey Eyes is all about the fundamentals of music. His goal in mind for the listener is to be transported into a new place where their fears and needs can be understood. He believes in that spellbinding quality only music can express and you can hear it live at SXSW to experience the comfy cushion to sit back and relax in that is Hazey Eyes.
