Spotify is testing its own version of Stories called ‘Storyline’
Spotify is testing its own version of Stories — the sharing format popularized by social apps like Snapchat and Instagram that has since made its way to other apps like Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp and others. In Spotify’s case, it’s not called “Stories” but rather “Storyline,” and the focus is on allowing artists to share their own insights, inspiration, details about their creative process or other meanings behind the music.

Facebook’s Ticketing Platform Is Officially Live — With 700 Million Potential Users
Facebook says its Events platform is used by roughly 700 million users a month.
Now, Facebook’s widely-used event coordination service will feature a paid ticketing option. Powering the backend is Eventbrite, which helped to democratize the event ticketing process and is bringing significant backend functionality to the table.
According to the partners, the rollout of ‘Ticketing on Facebook’ is happening today (May 16th). Options will include paid and free tickets, with Eventbrite and Facebook collecting a sizable fee per ticket sold.

SPOTIFY TESTS VOICE-CONTROLLED HARDWARE FOR THE CAR
Spotify is testing a voice-controlled, in-car audio device in the US called the ‘Car Thing’.
According to a blog post published today (May 17), Spotify says that the test will be carried out in the US only, “with a small group of invited Spotify Premium users”.

BEATPORT LAUNCH NEW DJ SUBSCRIPTION SERVICES: LINK AND CLOUD
Beatport have launched a new subscription service for DJs called LINK. The new service lets DJs stream Beatport’s catalogue into DJ performance software, starting with Pioneer DJ’s WeDJ app and soon into their flagship rekordbox dj. Once LINK lands in rekordbox DJ in Q3 2019, it’ll bring with it an ability to access curated playlists, higher quality audio and offline performance mode.
