Spotify Surveys Artists, Industry To Expand Artists Services Directory
Spotify is asking artists and the music industry to tell them the kind of services they’d like to see listed in a “Provider Directory.” The wide-ranging survey appears to be a test of the level of interest a broader services directory and which categories should be included.

Music Streaming’s Real Value for Most Artists Is Data, Not Money
When Metallica books a tour, the band doesn’t just prepare to play its biggest hits in the biggest cities — it uses granular Spotify data to tease out the specific preferences of its city-specific fanbases, tailoring set lists to location, Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek revealed on an earnings call last summer. Ek was sharing the detail to highlight the success of Spotify for Artists, the company’s analytics dashboard for musicians, which provides information such as playlist inclusion, streams by time period and geographic rankings of popularity.

PANDORA INTEGRATES WITH INSTAGRAM STORIES
Pandora users across all tiers of service can share their songs, albums, podcasts, playlists or Pandora stations via Instagram Stories.
The music streaming service announced the news via a blog post published today (September 3).

SPOTIFY IS TESTING AN IN-APP FEATURE TO CREATE PODCASTS USING ANCHOR
Spotify is reportedly testing a button for users to create podcasts from within its app, using Anchor.
The unreleased feature was spotted by Jane Manchun Wong, who writing on Twitter on Tuesday (August 27), said that “Spotify is testing ‘Create podcast’ button to funnel their app users to Anchor, a podcast creation platform that Spotify recently acquired. It’s interesting there is a Brazil version of the Anchor promo page”.
