About Potatohead People
Potatohead People (Nick Wisdom + AstroLogical) is a Canadian hip-hop/electronic producer duo from Vancouver, BC.
They first met in a community baseball league in early high school and joined forces through their love for J Dilla and Madlib. In 2008 they began working together in the hip-hop collective Elekwent Folk soon after the two producers formed Potatohead People, and began to focus on creating forward thinking instrumental music. After releasing a series of EP’s digitally through Vancouver net-label Jellyfish Recordings, NY label Bastard Jazz reissued their 2012 landmark Kosmichemusik EP and pressed a 7″ which quickly became a collector’s item. The association landed their song “Back To My Sh*t” (featuring Frank Nittiest of Frank’n’Dank) on a Powerade produced LeBron James documentary, and the duo soon after released their debut LP ‘Big Luxury’ in March 2015 on Bastard Jazz
After developing a friendshi8p with Illa J (younger brother of the late J Dilla), they produced a full-length LP for the Detroit-born emcee/singer which was released on Bastard Jazz in late 2015. Over the span of their career the duo have worked with such artists as Moka Only, Kaytranada, Pomo, Phife Dawg, Ivan Ave, and The Pendleton’s. Called a “formidable tandem” by OkayPlayer, their sounds have been championed by the likes of Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Questlove, Big Boi and more.
Potatohead People returned with a brand new track “Single Life” featuring Vancouver based vocalist Bunnie. The track pays homage to the vibe and sound of mid-90s R&B, but presses forward into the future beats scene.
