SoundExchange Website to Let Artists Search and Claim Unmatched Recordings
In a move to bring more transparency and potentially help reduce black-box royalties, SoundExchange is updating its website to allow artists and labels to now see all recordings currently associated with their accounts, as well as allowing them to search and claim recordings in the organization’s pending and unmatched database.
The new features are expected to be available on the SoundExchange website in November, according to a “coming soon” notice on that website. The new features will reside in the “My Catalog” section of SoundExchange Direct, “and marks the most significant update of our client portal since it was introduced in 2014, according to the agency.
The pending and unmatched database consists of International Standard Recording Codes (ISRC’s) that have not yet been matched to sound recordings (i.e., song titles and the artists and labels responsible for the unmatched recordings).

YOUTUBE PARTNERS WITH MERCHANDISE PLATFORM MERCHBAR
YouTube has partnered with Merchbar to allow artists with an Official Artist Channel to ‘surface’ their official merchandise and vinyl alongside their videos.
Carrying over 1 million items from 35,000 artists, Merchbar is one of the largest music merchandise aggregator providers globally.

The Vinyl Industry Has a Trade Group — Introducing the ‘Vinyl Alliance’
After nearly 15 years of consecutive recovery, vinyl is becoming a bonafide industry again.
The freshly-unwrapped trade group, which aims to cover all aspects of vinyl record mastering, manufacturing, hardware, software, distribution, and retail, was announced to Digital Music News this morning. The group, dubbed the ‘Vinyl Alliance,’ had their inaugural meeting at the Making Vinyl conference at the W Hotel in Hollywood, a crowded pow-wow that attracted major and indie labels, worldwide manufacturers, mastering engineers, and a variety of technology players.

SPOTIFY USERS IN SANTIAGO, CHILE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR 400M REGGAETÓN STREAMS ON THE PLATFORM EACH MONTH
Music fans in Santiago, Chile love reggaetón.
According to Spotify, the city is responsible for over 400 million plays of the genre per month.
Spotify adds that twice as many reggaetón songs are played in Santiago each month compared to the second city on the list, Mexico City – even though the population of the latter is nearly double the size of the former.
