Get to know Rat City
Rat City looks, from the outside like your typical metropolis, but behind the glitz and glamour it’s exactly as it sounds -a hotbed of seedy characters stabbing each other in the back at every turn. Friends and enemies interchange fluidly as they let their primal instincts call the shots. Even the police are criminals here. One thing is for sure nothing is ever as it seems in Rat City.
A high concept audio visual project seamlessly fusing song and image, Rat City was conceived by Norwegian songwriter/producers Kent & Cato Sundberg. Lasse Michelsen joined in 2018 and recently, animator/designer Micah Monkey signed on to the Rat City collective as creative director.
Rat City’s meteoric rise continues with their infectious new single & video ‘Deliriously Good’, the official follow-up to their Scandinavian platinum debut single “Kind of Love” which hit #1 Shazam and spent 7 weeks at #1 on Norwegian radio. The song received extensive Spotify playlisting, US radio airplay at SiriusXM and iHeartRadio Evolution, as well as praise in Earmilk, YourEDM and EDM Sauce. Going from strength to strength, ‘Deliriously Good’ is accompanied by another eye-popping animated video that continues the technicolor hard-boiled tale introduced in the ‘Kind Of Love’ video.
When challenged with the task of creating a visual identity for Rat City the Sundberg brothers approached US-based animator ‘Micah Monkey’ who designed a whole world for the band, characters from which premiered in their debut music video for “Kind of Love”. Says Cato, “We are all big fans of the Gorillaz and loved the idea of Rat City starting life as an animated project…telling stories of a hotbed of seedy characters who stab each other in the back at every turn.”
Following hot on the heels of their #1 Shazaming Scandinavian double-platinum single “Kind of Love” and their collaboration with Dutch superstar DJ Lvndscape, Rat City returns their most infectious single yet “Naked (With My Headphones On)” featuring Kiesza.
