A brilliant performer with a lifetime of experience, soulful pop siren Melody remains a breath of fresh air; blending aspects of her Mexican/African-American heritage with her wild Western Arizona roots. In 2012, the GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter dropped her first mixtape, P.O.Y.L. Her impressive range and powerful delivery turned heads, garnering glowing reviews. A combination of sass and savoir-faire culled from her years on stage allowed her to produce pieces that reflected her musical identity – a youthful, contemporary sound like something you’d hear in a filmscore. She draws influence from artists like Shirley Bassey, Nancy Sinatra, B.B. King, the Jackson 5, Aretha Franklin and Al Green, but adds her own creative twist; the result is a blend of her own perspective with an infusion of the classics, leading to an unmistakable sound.
Melody is proud to announce the official release of the single, “Phoenix Rise,” a powerful new ballad that provides a shimmer of hope in the midst of so much confusion, sadness and uncertainty in the United States and around the world. Melody wrote and co-produced the song with multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated producer, Drew Scott.
“Phoenix Rise” is the new single from the smoldering Arizona native’s highly awaited EP, Lioness Eyes, scheduled to drop on August 7th. Melody describes the forthcoming independent project, which she executive produced, as a coming of age story. “It’s the journey from innocence to experience,” she explains. “A look in the eyes that clearly indicates she’s come to know her power in the world.”
She will celebrate the release of her first project in eight years, with an exclusive performance on August 7th complete with a full band streamed live from The Hotel Café in West Hollywood. Fans can purchase tickets on the artist’s website, where they will also find an intimate letter penned by the singer. “Phoenix Rise” is available on digital retailers worldwide.
