Symphonic Signs the Catalog of Legendary Brazilian Artist, Sabotage
Here’s the rundown…
Sabotage is one of the most accomplished and acclaimed rappers in Brazilian music. With only one album released during his lifetime, 2001’s “Rap é Compromisso” (Translated to: Rap Is A Commitment, an important and personal belief of the artist), Sabotage still became a superstar in the industry.
Before his untimely passing, he left a second album behind, self-titled, “Sabotage”. The album reached milestones such as a Spotify’s Global Viral, Album of the Year and an award for Best Production in Brazil. Because of these incredible results, Spotify Brazil developed the project “Neural” with Artificial Intelligence to create new lyric(s) by the artist that were previously recorded by RZO (longtime partner of the artist).
Sabotage changed the game.
Through rap, Sabotage was committed to expanding the horizons of the genre in Brazil, drawing attention to the problems and social realities of the region. Before Sabotage, rap didn’t have much space on TV, radio, or in the press, and after him, Brazilian rap entered a new era.
The genre went from niche to a major part of Brazils’ popular music scene, opening doors for new talents that followed his footsteps.
Current rap superstars like Criolo, Emicida and Karol Conka consistently name Sabotage as one of their main influences, even citing him on their own songs. Although Sabotage died in 2003, his iconic legend lives on forever.
