In honor of International Women’s Month, we’ve asked Ness Heads to specially curate our hip-hop Bars playlist on Spotify for the entire month of March! Check out, “Ness Heads’ hip-hop Mixtape” and experience tracks from some of her favorite artists and more. Here’s the rundown…
Ness Heads Hiphop Playlist Takeover
In addition to the playlist takeover, we dove right in and had a conversation with the Chicago artist about her influences, personal insights, and more… — Below are the questions and her responses:
Who (or what) got you into music?
“My mom got me curious about music by starting me off at random after school stuff like piano lessons, singing at church, etc. And my brothers got me obsessed with hip hop.”
She continues, “… but what made me want to learn and start doing it on my own was after I listened to House of Balloons- The Weeknd. That project really blew my mind and gave me such a crazy desire to create what I was feeling. My girlfriend at the time encouraged me to start playing around with it so that pushed my curiosity with music even more.”

What advice would you give to other artists trying to make it in the industry?
“The only thing you can really control is how much work you put into getting better at your craft. Focus on that, trust the rest will come.”
What’s your favorite track on the playlist and why?
“Whole Lotta Money- Bia // The entire song gives me such confidence when listening to it, and also the lyrics are so quotable to me. I loveeeee it.”
If you could be a fruit, what fruit would you be and why?
“A green apple bc it’s so versatile. — Goes with peanut butter, tajin, plain, etc. Not too many fruits can do that.”
