Remember Clubhouse? The invite-only app where users can join chatrooms and discuss topics with some of the biggest names in the industry? That’s the one! Now, Spotify has entered the ring. They’ve acquired their own live audio app, and it’s called Locker Room. Here’s the rundown…
Spotify Acquires Locker Room To Compete Against Clubhouse
Previously an app for sports fans to discuss games together, Locker Room (created by Betty Labs) has been recently purchased by Spotify. 👀

Why now?
For years, Spotify has been shifting gears towards becoming a truly all-encompassing audio platform. This investment is just another step towards that goal. Gustav Söderström, Chief Research & Development Officer at Spotify states in Spotify’s official announcement, “Creators and fans have been asking for live formats on Spotify, and we’re excited that soon, we’ll make them available to hundreds of millions of listeners and millions of creators on our platform…”
He continues, “The world already turns to us for music, podcasts, and other unique audio experiences, and this new live audio experience is a powerful complement that will enhance and extend the on-demand experience we provide today.”
What to expect moving forward…
Now, we wait! As they move forward to expand their newest acquisition, Spotify will continue to enhance their services for professional athletes, writers, musicians, songwriters, podcasters, and other global voices opportunities to host real-time discussions, debates, ask me anything (AMA) sessions, and more.
