We’ve asked The Dumes to specially curate our Riffs playlist on Spotify for the entire month of May! Check out, “The Dumes’ Rock Mixtape” and experience tracks from some of her favorite artists and more. 💥Here’s the rundown…
The Dumes Playlist Takeover
About The Dumes
“The Dumes first appeared to front-woman Elodie Tomlinson as a mirage on the horizon during a shroom-fueled bike ride up the California coastline. One by one, she conjured the colors to paint that mirage into focus that would cut through the noise; a feeling she understood all too well as one of seven siblings growing up. This intense focus along with Elodie’s full bodied and urgent voice drew in like-minded musicians to fill out the picture. Chris Dunn’s authoritative drumming drives in lockstep with Liam McCormack’s seeking, yet bold presence on bass. Peter Recine and Kyle Biane’s guitar lines intertwine, swinging from raucous to melodic, with a great sense of unity throughout each song. The Dumes have just begun crafting their own story, in their own voice, to striking effect.” (Read more on Spotify.)
In addition to the playlist takeover, we dove right in and had a conversation with the band about their influences, personal insights, and more.
Q: Who/ what got you into music?
“Our intros to music are all a little different. (Pete’s been playing guitar since he was 4!) In general, we either caught on to the music our parents played at home growing up and/or started bands with friends in middle school and beyond. — All in all, the music bug bit us and it still stings! The rest is history. “
Q: What advice would you give to other artists trying to make it in the industry?
“Do your own thing, work hard, take us on tour, let’s have fun!”
Q: What’s your favorite track on the playlist and why?
“We all love the aggression and fuzzy tones on Courtney Barnett’s “I’m Not Your Mother, I’m Not Your Bitch” – and that song is a fav of Elodie’s.”
Q: If you could be a fruit, what fruit would you be and why?
“What rhymes with Orange?”
