What do you do here at Symphonic?
“I play music detective! I research and evaluate projects to see if they could be a good match for Symphonic. I also act as a bridge between the artist and the distribution network, helping to ensure that the artist’s music reaches its target audience and achieves commercial success.
What do you look for?
“I personally look for artists and projects that understand the music industry landscape… but also musicians who understand that distribution is just a piece of the pie. I appreciate artists who are aware of the importance of the other elements that contribute to the growth and success of their careers.”
How would someone qualify for Symphonic Partner/catch your eye?
“Projects that have a clear direction and vision always intrigue me. Of course, it’s important to see some trajectory of growth before reaching out to the artist, but sometimes a leap of faith is the way to go.”
Who are some acts you’ve signed?
“Rolipso, Danny Polo, Sensato, Lemondrop.”
What genres/subgenres are you seeing on the rise?
“I am noticing that the fusion of genres is gaining a lot of popularity. Even mixing languages, like English, French, and Spanish in the same track can broaden the scope of territories where the music can have a strong impact. Artists like Danny Polo are brilliant at doing this.”
What trends or opportunities do you see in the industry right now that independent artists should pay attention to?
“Social media gets a bad rap, but it is still a very useful tool for artist to connect with their audiences in a more genuine way. Fans like to feel like they are a part of something and that they can relate with their favorite artists in ways that go beyond their music.”
What’s one album or song you think everyone should listen to at least once?
“Folklore by Taylor Swift. The lyricism and musicality are next level.”
What is your favorite part of your job?
“Hearing artists’ stories and about what inspires them to create the music they do!”
