How does it work?
WhatsApp Status lets users post photos or videos that disappear after 24 hours, similar to Instagram Stories. Now, you can layer your music on top of those updates using Meta’s Audio Library, making your tracks part of their daily conversations.
Statuses live in the ‘Updates’ section of the app and are end-to-end encrypted, meaning they’re only visible to contacts who have each other saved in their phones (a “dual contact model”). // Learn more about WhatsApp Status here.
A few things to keep in mind…
- Music can only be added to photo or video statuses—not text, GIF, or voice updates.
- This feature is only available on iOS and Android devices.
- If you’re using the WhatsApp Business app, your available music options might differ.
- Music availability may vary depending on your country.
Will my previously released catalog be available on WhatsApp?
Anything you’ve previously delivered to Meta (Facebook/Instagram) is already available for use on WhatsApp. If you don’t see a release, reach out to us with the missing UPCs, and we’ll help you out.
📌 Note: Music on Status is not yet available in some countries, like Brazil.
