The Story of Parker Graye

Parker Graye is a Canadian country singer-songwriter carving her own lane in Nashville, Tennessee. Originally from the small town of Orillia, Ontario, her journey has been anything but linear, full of detours, lessons, and the kind of grit that only comes from chasing a dream that refuses to let go. What started as a foggy vision rooted in heartache, hope, and a deep love for storytelling has grown into a clear, authentic sound that blends modern country with raw emotion and vivid lyricism. Her music is shaped by the highs and lows of finding her place… in music, in life, and in the world around her.

“I was just a girl from a small town with a dusty dream in her soul,” she says. “It took a few wrong turns and dead ends to finally get to the bottom of the mountain. And hell, now we’re really climbing that dang mountain.”

How does your community inspire you?

“I have the privilege of working with some of the most talented, brilliant, and innovative people. From industry professionals to songwriters and artists, I get a front row seat to watching all these people chase after the same dream I have, but in their own way. I’ve been fortunate enough to be surrounded by some of the hardest-working folks, and that drive and tenacity are infectious.”

Why do you create music in Nashville? (Why here, vs. another city?)

“I moved from Vancouver to Nashville for the purpose of being the small fish in a big pond. I was hungry to learn and become a better artist and songwriter, and living here, you certainly have the opportunity to do that. If I weren’t here, I definitely think I’d be in Toronto or Calgary!”

What are your favorite music venues in your city?

“Blue Bird Cafe, Listening Room, Roberts Western World.”

What are your favorite local music festivals?

“Well, it’s not local, but Boots & Hearts in Oro, Medonte, Ontario – right outside of my hometown of Orillia. I gotta give my people back home some love!”

What influence has your city had on your music?

“Being a songwriter and living in Nashville, you hear A LOT of songs, and some stop you dead in your tracks and make you wish you wrote them. More than ever now, I’m going back to songs and rethinking lyrics or trying to tweak things to make the song go from good to great. Beyond this, I get to see my friends and colleagues create insane art. And being surrounded by people who are so wildly talented, it’s impossible not to pull inspiration from them.”
