Every artist has a story… one filled with bold moves, quiet breakthroughs, and the moments that shift everything. Your Story Starts Here is a series dedicated to capturing these journeys. So, we handed Beccs a disposable camera and asked her to document her world, giving us a peek into the spaces and sparks behind her sound. For her, that world is a blend of Brooklyn’s vibrant energy and the musical roots of her Boston upbringing. NYC may be her current home, but the spirit of where she started still pulses through every beat. Alongside these snapshots, we caught up with her to talk about her path so far, the cultural connections that shape her music, and the creative fuel that keeps her going. 📸 🎶 Here’s how her story began…
Your Story Starts Here: A Chapter of Beccs
The Story of Beccs

Beccs is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter whose music blends raw emotional storytelling with a fearless pop sensibility. Her journey as an artist began early—belting along to Britney Spears music videos at age four and covering prog rock on the cello with her brothers. But it was during a pivotal moment at a treatment center, facing the onset of an eating disorder, that songwriting became something deeper: a lifeline.
Since then, Beccs has channeled her experiences into music that’s unfiltered, vulnerable, and powerful, using her voice not just to entertain, but to connect and heal. With every lyric, she invites listeners into her world. One filled with resilience, reflection, and a whole lot of heart.
🎙️ We talked with Beccs about her story, what inspires her, and more. Check out what she said below…
How does your community inspire you?
“My community inspires me with their warmth, their wisdom, their tenacity, and brilliance.”
Why do you create music in New York? (Why here, vs. another city?)
“I create music in Brooklyn, Hudson, and LA. Each habitat has its own seasons in meeting me where I am in my process.”
What are your favorite music venues in your city?
“Love the Avalon Lounge in Catskill, NY.”

What are your favorite record stores in New York?
“I buy CDs! I just have my boombox, and I mostly buy CDs from merch at shows, so it goes directly to the artist.”
What are your favorite local music festivals?
“Basilica Hudson was beautiful. I had a great time playing at Meadowlark Fest!”
What influence has your city had on your music?
“I recently moved to Hudson for my nervous system. Sonically, I would say that living in the Hudson Valley inspires me to work more with organic instrumentation as my foundation. There is so much natural and historic beauty here: 19th-century buildings with exposed layers of paint, lush meadows, swimming holes, and flower species my eyes have never seen. You become curious about the natural textures and sounds around you. Plus, I finally have room for an upright piano in my home. Spiritually, my new habitat allows me to work more intentionally and closely with myself. I have the space to drop in and listen. I even get to just be sometimes! I’m much less driven by what the industry wants of me and much more called to make the thing that innately bursts out of me and likely only me.”
