We have partnered with Spotify to deliver client music videos directly to the platform, expanding where your content can live and how fans can engage with it. 🎬 💥 As video continues to play a bigger role in music discovery, this opens up another way to connect your visuals with listeners right where they’re already streaming.
Here’s everything you need to know…
Symphonic Adds Spotify to Its Video Distribution Lineup
About Spotify Music Video Distribution
Spotify is stepping further into video, and it’s a pretty big shift. Now, official music videos are being rolled out directly on the platform, meaning your visuals can live right alongside your track instead of sending fans somewhere else to watch them.
Listeners can switch between audio and video in real time using the “Switch to video” button on the Now Playing screen, so the experience stays seamless from stream to visual.
It’s still in beta and not fully rolled out everywhere yet, but it’s clear where things are heading: video is becoming part of the core listening experience on Spotify.
With this update, Symphonic clients now have a direct path to getting their official music videos onto Spotify as part of our official video distribution offerings.
What does this mean for Symphonic clients?
- For new video submissions, Symphonic clients get distribution to 7 platforms: Vevo, Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, XITE, Promo Only, & Vimeo for $95 per video
- Alternatively, for clients interested in Spotify alone, you have the option to select the $25 per video Spotify Only option.
If you have distributed videos in the past with Symphonic and already paid the $95 fee, you are welcome to have delivery to Spotify expedited for $15 per video using THIS RUSH FORM.
NOTE: The Rush Delivery Request form is only for Symphonic client music videos for which you have already paid the video distribution fee for in the past.
What to Know Before You Submit
Before you send your video over, there are just a few things to keep in mind.
Spotify is pretty specific about what they’ll accept right now. It has to be an official music video, so no lyric videos, visualizers, or live performance clips for the time being.
Your audio also needs to be distributed through Symphonic since Spotify connects the video directly to the track. If it’s not, the video won’t be eligible for delivery.
And if you’re expecting your video to be live in the U.S., publishing needs to be fully cleared.
- That means making sure all writers are credited and that everything is properly registered with the Mechanical Licensing Collective (MLC).
- In addition, your publisher must have opted in to Spotify’s audiovisual license via the Harry Fox Agency (HFA).
