Spotify Launches New Promo Tool, Songwriter Promo Cards
About Songwriter Promo Cards
A couple years ago, Spotify launched Promo Cards which enabled artists to create custom assets for their songs, albums and artist profile to share on socials. Now, they’ve just launched a new iteration of this great feature specifically for songwriters.
For decades, many songwriters haven’t received the recognition they deserve for writing some of our most beloved tracks. Spotify is working to change that with Songwriter Promo Cards. With these unique assets, songwriters can promote the songs they’ve written and get discovered by potential collaborators and fans alike.
“Why is this important?”
Ever since Spotify started showing songwriter credits back in 2018 and introduced Songwriter Pages in 2020, there’s been a huge increase in how many labels and distributors credit songwriters on their new releases. That means the artists, producers and songwriters are all getting more visibility on their creative works than ever before. In addition to these new Songwriter Cards, Songwriter Pages now feature a new “Written By” playlist so your new fans can listen to all the other amazing tracks you’ve written in one playlist.
You deserve all the love you can get on your work, so show off! That’s what this feature is all about.
How To Get Started:
According to Spotify’s official announcement, here’s how to get started…
- To create your assets, all you have to do is visit the Promo Cards site right here.
- Search for the content you want to promote. You can share your songwriter profile (the generated share card will link out to your Songwriter Page) or your Written By playlist (the generated share card will link out to your Written By playlist on Spotify).
- Customize it. How do you want your share card displayed? Will it be square, horizontal, or portrait? You can choose the aspect ratio and background color from a palette of complementary options.
- Share it! You can choose one of the direct share options on the site to post it to social media. You can also download your new creation and upload it wherever you like with the link to your content the site generates.
In the meantime, check out some examples of the pages they’ve created in collaboration with Missy Elliot, Meghan Trainor and Justin Tranter. 🔥
Good luck!
